Rachel Tackley appointed Executive Director of Chichester Festival Theatre
9 March 2016
ETT Director Rachel Tackley has been appointed by the Board of Chichester Festival Theatre to succeed Alan Finch as Executive Director.
Greg Parston, English Touring Theatre Chairman, said “I have to tell you, with both deep sadness and great pride, that Rachel Tackley has been offered, and has accepted, the post of Executive Director of Chichester Festival Theatre, one of the biggest jobs of its kind in the UK. This is a highly sought after role that Rachel has certainly earned through her outstanding leadership of English Touring Theatre over the last eight years. We will be working with Rachel over the summer to arrange for her successor and look forward to collaborating with Rachel in future as we continue to further develop the National Touring Theatre.”
Rachel has been Director and CEO of English Touring Theatre since 2008, and in June she will end a six-year tenure as President of UK Theatre, the leading membership organisation for theatre and the performing arts. She will join the CFT team in September 2016, sharing the leadership of the Theatre with new Artistic Director Daniel Evans.
Rachel Tackley said: ‘Chichester Festival Theatre have become by-words for excellence and ambition and I am thrilled and honoured to be the next Executive Director. I look forward to working with Daniel Evans and the extraordinary team in Chichester to lead the company through its next exciting phase. I relish this opportunity to build on the company’s success and to develop the significant contribution that it makes to theatre regionally, nationally and internationally.’
