As the world gets better at spinning

Little Baby Jesus is a lyrical triptych of monologues revealing the inter-connected lives of three inner-city teenagers, capturing the exact moment each becomes an adult. 

Kehinde has a passion for light-skinned girls or otherewise known as...Mixed-raced girl syndrome. My favourite was when that black African or Carribbean skin mixes with that white English or European skin. You get that sun kissed finish.

Jodie is a mixed-race girl dipped in rudeness and rolled in attitude. Listen, old man, I'm not in the mood for romancing with some weirdo, ya get me, so don't waste your rotten breath init.

An then there's Rugrat. He's the class clown. He really wants to be liked - even by the scariest boy in school. He was some Nigerian gangster! He laid it on the line! His voice echoed through the playground like a lion's roar, through the plains of the Serengeti. Blood clot!

Three remarkable stories are brought to life through the poetic imagination of the multi-talented and award winning Arinze Kene.  

Arinze is best known for his portrayal of 'Connor Stanley' in EastEnders, and has also starred in the Lion King. He was recently named most promising playwright by Off West End.com (Offies) for his debut play Estate Walls which ran at the Oval House Theatre, London, in September last year. He was also shortlisted for the Alfred Fagon award in 2009. Arinze was a member of the Young Writers' Programme at the Royal Court Theatre. He was also invited onto the Soho Theatre's Young Writers Group and is now part of the Soho Theatre HUB writer's programme. Arinze is currently part of the writing team on E20 for Eastenders/BBC.

Director Ché Walker is working on a new version of Carmen for the Open Air Theatre, Regents Park. His directing credits include Been So Long at Young Vic, Traverse Theatre and National Tour, Lovesong National Tour, Estate Walls Oval House Theatre and Achidi J's Final Hours Finborough Theatre.

Little Baby Jesus is part of London Via Lagos this festival brings to the London stage three innovative and comtemporary plays; each with its own perspective spanning the political, the personal, and the domestic. All three dramas investigate today's Britain and all reflect the vigour and passion of Nigeria.
