"I know Allan's a kind man. I know it cos he's been so kind to me. And now I just want to put my trust in him..."
Plagued by the deafening tick of her biological clock, Lorna pins all her hopes for true love on Allan. But she soon discovers that life in his isolated farmhouse raises disturbing questions, not happy endings...
As the horror of Allan's world is exposed, will Lorna do what's right or tun a blind eye to get what she wants?
Hundreds & Thousands is a dark and twisted tale about deciding what's more important-doing what's right, or what's right for you.
Produced by ETT's Producer Bursary recipient Claire Birch, Hundreds & Thousands is the next play from Lou Ramsden-an exceptional up-and-coming young writer. Her first play Breed was produced by Theatre503 in September 2010, to great acclaim. WhatsOnStage described it as "a strong offering by a clearly talented writer" - and Lou was subsequently shortlisted for the Critics' Circle Most Promising Playwright Award. Her previous work includes award-winning plays for BBC Radio 4.
Lisa Spirling is establishing herself as a director of merit and great promise, having directed the Meyer Whitworth Award-winning Cotton Wool at Theatre503 in 2008, she joined ETT as Associated Director on our national tour of The Hypochondriac. She has since worked alongside directing heavyweights such as Rupert Goold, Michael Grandage and Matthew Warchus. She directed the re-cast of hit show Enron in the West End, and on National Tour; and was invited by the Alley Theatre Houston to driect Boeing Boeing there last year. She is currently Associated Director for Neil LaBute on In a Forest Dark and Deep.

What starts as a vision of childlike innocence steadily metastasises into a chilling parable of willful self-delusion...

British Theatre GuideUsing storytelling techniques and vivid stage images (the climax is excruciating and almost unbearable), the playwright creates a thrilling atmosphere that has the audience on the edge of their seats...
The Arts Desk... the best play I’ve seen this year. Gripping, tense, thought-provoking, and dripping with black humour at every turn, this play will have you gasping in shock while alternately laughing as you recoil in you seat. If you watch one play this summer, make it Hundreds and Thousands...
