Announcing... 'Thursday' a World Premiere by Bryony Lavery

30 October 2012

We’re delighted to announce the forthcoming production of Thursday, a new play by Bryony Lavery. Commissioned and produced with leading Adelaide based company Brink Productions, Thursday is ETT’s first ever international co-production, and will premiere at the Adelaide Festival in March 2013, with UK dates to be announced.

ETT teamed up with Brink Productions, the company behind the international hit When the Rain Stops Falling, with the shared idea to create a piece of work inspired by the story of Gill Hicks, an Adelaide-born woman who lost both legs in the 2005 London bombings. A truly international co-production, both the cast and creative team will be a mixture of British and Australian artists. British playwright Bryony Lavery’s play layers dreams with reality, compassion with devastation and identity with loss, to build a deeply woven picture of humanity.

Bryony is perhaps best known for her multi-award-winning play Frozen. Speaking about the writing process, she described

two intense workshops with the cream of British and Australian acting, creating a piece inspired by the awesome Gill Hicks and led by Chris Drummond, one of the world's most exciting directors all run with fun, friendly efficiency (and cake!) by Team ETT.... I am in Playwright's Paradise on this one!

Thursday will premiere at the Adelaide Festival in March 2013, before transferring to the Canberra Theatre Centre. Subsequent UK Tour dates TBA.
