Anne Boleyn cast announced

5 January 2012

We’re excited to announce the cast of our forthcoming tour Anne Boleyn, produced in partnership with Shakespeare’s Globe. Many of the cast members of the original, highly acclaimed production at the Globe return to reprise their roles, and they will be joined by a slew of new talent.

Jo Herbert takes up the title role, fresh from playing lead role of Rosalind in another hit 2011 Globe production, As You Like It. Playing her lover King Henry VIII is David Sturzaker, most recently seen playing Society Red in the West End production of Cool Hand Luke.

They will join returning members of the cast including James Garnon, reprising his inimitable portrayal of erratic James I, hailed by The Independent as ‘a compelling performance’. Also returning are Julius D’Silva as the smooth Thomas Cromwell, Colin Hurley as Henry Barrow and the blustering Cardinal Wolsey, Michael Bertenshaw as Robert Cecil, Will Featherstone as Sloop, John Cummins as Parrot and Simpkin, Mary Doherty, who returns this time to play Lady Rochford, and Holly Morgan and Claire Bond, stepping into the roles of Lady Celia and Lady Jane Seymour respectively.

Tim Frances comes from the celebrated West Yorkshire Playhouse production of King Lear to take up the role of revolutionary William Tyndale, Michael Camp will be playing George Villiers, Robert Fitch playing Dr John Reynolds and Edward Peel the stern Dean Lancelot Andrewes.

Ensemble parts will be played by Christopher Birch, Beth CooperMax Grell and Luke McConnell.
