Tartuffe hailed as 'Best of the Best' of 2011

5 January 2012

Our Autumn touring production of Tartuffe has been named joint 'Best of the Best' of 2011 by ThePublicReviews.com, the website of reviews submitted by selected members of the theatregoing public. Awarding the honour, the website described how 'a strong ensemble, deft direction from Gemma Bodinetz and a wonderfully acerbic and witty adaptation from Roger McGough meant that this ticked all the boxes to bring us a little bit of sunshine in an otherwise doom and gloom year!'

Tartuffe shares the honour with the much-acclaimed National Theatre production of One Man Two Guvnors, beating off stiff competition from many other West End and regional theatre offerings.

The clearly discerning reviewers of ThePublicReviews caught Tartuffe in Liverpool, Brighton and Ipswich, giving a clean sweep of 5 Star reviews, and announcing ‘mediocrity has been blown out of the water with class and heart thanks to the Liverpool Playhouse and English Touring Theatre’, and dubbing the show ‘a masterclass’, ‘stunning’ and ‘an absolute delight from start to finish’.
