He's currently wowing audiences and critics with his playing of the foppish Valere - not bad for a young actor who only graduated from RADA this summer. Rather than being daunted by such a big step up so soon, Hiran Abeysekera insists he just feels lucky:
"Getting an awesome director and a wonderful and supportive cast on your first job out of drama school means you're lucky, and just being spoiled. Actually I was a little nervous about being one of the newcomers in the cast and thought I'd feel out of place, for a while at least. However the others were so welcoming and there was such a good atmosphere in the rehearsal room, from day one I felt I had the liberty to go on my own adventure and to jump on the Tartuffe roller-coaster with everyone else."
What, then, about life on the road? Having had his first taste of the demanding lifestyle, the long journeys, the time away from home, how does he feel about a solid 8 weeks on tour? It seems like nothing is going to dampen his enthusiasm:
"Touring with a bundle of fun, which is Tartuffe, is fantastic. Imagine this: you get to explore quite a bit of England, make people laugh, have fun on stage doing what you love best and also, share the whole experience with a wonderful group of people you've grown to love.
"Overall, working on Tartuffe has been simply amazing. I have been well and truly spoiled. Hurrah!"
We’re proud Hiran has made his debut with us, and a little bit awed at his unwavering energy and high-spirits! We're already looking forward to seeing what this promising young talent will achieve in the future.
