In 2012 James was awarded a Stage One Producer’s Bursary for his production of Step 9 (of 12) at Trafalgar Studios starring Blake Harrison. In 2013 James was awarded the first £50,000 Stage One Start Up Fund to produce the West End production Barking In Essex (Evening Standard and WOS nomination for Best New Comedy) by Clive Exton at the Wyndham’s Theatre starring Lee Evans, Sheila Hancock and Keeley Hawes.
Since then he has gone on to produce the West End transfer of Good People starring Imelda Staunton (Noël Coward Theatre) and the UK premiere of Next Fall starring Charlie Condou (Southwark Playhouse).
Previously James was the Project Manager for Old Vic New Voices where he produced The TS Eliot US/UK Exchange in London and New York (Vineyard Theatre 2010 & Public Theater 2011), The 24 Hour Plays: Old Vic New Voices (The Old Vic, 2010 & 2011), The Arden Project (Warner Brothers in London and 3LD in New York) and Time Warner IGNITE.
In 2014 James was appointed Producer for English Tour Theatre and has produced the UK tours of Arcadia by Tom Stoppard, The Odyssey: Missing Presumed Dead by Simon Armitage, The Herbal Bed by Peter Whelan (UK Theatre Awards Best Touring Production 2016), Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh adapted by Bryony Lavery, French Without Tears by Terence Rattigan, Lady Chatterley’s Lover by D.H. Lawrence adapted by Philip Breen, Hamlet by William Shakespeare adapted by Kelly Hunter, Silver Lining by Sandi Toksvig and Rules for Living by Sam Holcroft. James will be producing the UK tour of A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams, directed by Chelsea Walker in 2018.
James is a member of SOLT, The Society of London Theatre and the League of Independent Producers.
