    • Congratulations on 'Uncle Vanya'. Benedict Nightingale of the Times & the rest of his chums gave you four stars. Cheapskates! I'll give you the maximum five.
This afternoon's performance was an absolute joy.

    • My wife and I saw Uncle Vanya at Brighton last week and we wanted you, and all concerned with the production, to know how much we enjoyed the performance, which we thought admirable in every respect. Many years ago we saw a memorable production with Ralph Richardson, Laurence Olivier, Joyce Redmond and (we think) Margaret Leighton. Our memories of it are still vivid. We thought your production was better!
