The Board of English Touring Theatre has announced today that Rachel Tackley will succeed Stephen Unwin as ETT’s Director and Chief Executive when he steps down in 2008.
Her appointment will take effect from Spring 2008. She will continue in her role as Creative Producer of ETT until this time and will work with Stephen Unwin in planning his final season.
Nic Lloyd, Chairman of the English Touring Theatre Board said today:
'As Chairman of ETT, I am delighted to announce the Board's appointment of Rachel Tackley as ETT’s new Director. ETT will be the first producer-led touring company in the country. This is a unique position and Rachel brings to the post an outstanding track record as producer and a widely demonstrated commitment to theatre artists. Her experience in the commercial and subsidised sectors, both in this country and overseas is invaluable. Her passion and vision will drive an original and imaginative programme, by finding new ways of working with some of the country’s leading directors, actors and writers. I am most grateful to the Board and the Arts Council for their help and advice in securing this exciting new appointment and for taking this bold and inspiring step.’
Rachel Tackley said:
‘I am thrilled to be taking over from Stephen as Director of ETT. I want to make the company a home for some of the country’s leading theatrical figures and create a range of exciting and ambitious productions to tour to audiences throughout Britain and abroad.’
Rachel Tackley is currently Creative Producer for ETT. She has worked for the Ambassador Theatre Group for the past five years, first as Head of Programming where she was responsible for programming all of ATG's regional theatres, and currently as Chief Executive of Milton Keynes Theatre. Previously Rachel produced for Shared Experience Theatre in the UK, USA and all over the world.
